Terms of Use

Last updated: 9 October 2026

Welcome to Lusitanian Coven. By using this website or creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. About the site

Lusitanian Coven is an unofficial, free, non-commercial fan project about King Diamond and Mercyful Fate, run by Lucas Almeida Romão, Portugal. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the bands, their members, their labels or their management. All band names, logos, album artwork, photographs and other marks belong to their respective owners and appear here to document and celebrate the music.

2. Accounts

  • You must be 13 or older. If your country requires permission from a parent or guardian for people under 16 to use a service like this one, you need that permission.
  • You sign in through Auth0. Give accurate information and keep your login secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not sell, share or transfer your account.
  • Membership lasts one year and renewing is free. You renew yourself on the site (a reminder appears in the last 30 days and for 30 days after the end date; renewal opens 60 days before the end). When you renew, you confirm again that you meet the age rule above and that you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If a membership is not renewed, access to the members’ area (the members-only pages and full-size images) pauses until you renew. You can still download your data or delete your account at any time. Accounts that stay expired for 12 more months are deleted.
  • You can download your data or delete your account at any time in My Account → Privacy & Data. How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy.

3. How to behave

Be respectful. In the forum, comments, uploads and any contact with us, do not:

  • harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against anyone, or share someone’s private information;
  • post unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else’s copyright, privacy or other rights;
  • post spam, advertising, scams or malware, or use the site to push sales or deals of your own;
  • pretend to be another person, a band member or the site’s team;
  • try to break, overload or bypass the site’s security, or collect its content or members’ data with automated tools.

Moderators and administrators may edit or remove content, and suspend or delete accounts, that break these terms or the forum rules. If we remove or restrict your content or your account, we will tell you why, unless the law stops us or it would put someone at risk.

4. What you post

You keep the rights to what you submit (forum posts, replies, fan art, photos, contest entries and messages). By submitting it you give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store it, display it on the site, resize it and show it in the way you chose when submitting (for example publicly or only to members), for as long as it is on the site. You promise that you have the right to submit it and that it does not break the law or anyone’s rights.

Submissions of photos and fan art are reviewed before they appear, and show your name or country only if you chose to. You can remove your own content, or ask us to, at any time. What you make visible on the site can be seen by anyone who can open that page. We show visitors only small thumbnails, keep full-size images for logged-in members and disable saving images with a right-click, but we cannot stop someone from taking a screenshot or copying a link. If you find your work used without credit, tell us and we will look into it. Forum posts of a deleted account stay in the discussion as “Deleted member”, as explained in the Privacy Policy. We will ask you before using your content anywhere else, for example on our social media, unless you allowed it in advance in My Account → Profile & Preferences (you can turn that off at any time, and it applies to future posts).

5. Content of the site and how you may use it

  • The site’s own text, design and organisation are protected. You may read, share links to and quote short parts of them for personal, non-commercial purposes, giving credit.
  • Images, press clippings, video and other archival material belong to their authors or owners. Full-size images are for logged-in members to view; do not copy, redistribute or use them commercially without the owner’s permission.
  • The site is built by fans from many sources. We try to be accurate, but dates, credits, line-ups and other facts may contain mistakes. Tell us if you find one.

6. Copyright and takedown

If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, or you appear in material you want removed, write to legal@lusitaniancoven.com with the exact link to the page, a description of the material, an explanation of why you believe it is illegal, infringing or should come down (and why you are the owner or the person concerned), your name and email address, and a statement that you are acting in good faith. We will review it promptly and remove or correct the material where appropriate, normally within 7 days. Repeated infringement by a member leads to suspension.

7. Other websites and services

The site links to and embeds services such as Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. They are run by others, under their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for them. Embedded players load only after you allow cookies, as explained in the Privacy Policy.

Sometimes the site may help members find each other to trade, or point to an outside shop or marketplace. Any trade or purchase is a deal between the people or the shop involved: we are not a party to it, we do not hold money or goods, and we do not guarantee the other side. Be careful, and never send money to someone you do not know and trust.

8. Contests and giveaways

  • Free to enter. No purchase is necessary to enter or to win. Some giveaways may ask the winner to pay the cost of shipping the prize; when so, this is stated clearly in that giveaway’s rules before you enter, with the amount. Shipping is paid by PayPal or bank transfer, as the rules say.
  • Each contest or giveaway shows its own rules: how to enter, the closing date, who may enter (for example by age or country), how the winner is chosen (a random draw or a judged result) and what the prize is. Where those rules and these terms differ, the rules of that giveaway apply to it.
  • We contact the winner through the account email. If the winner does not reply within the time stated in the rules, we may choose another winner.
  • Prizes cannot be exchanged for money. Unless the rules say otherwise, customs duties and taxes on a prize shipped abroad are the winner’s responsibility, and we are not responsible for loss or damage once the carrier has the parcel.
  • We use the details you give us only to run the giveaway and send the prize, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Your name or country is shown publicly only if you chose so when entering.
  • Giveaways are run by the site and are not sponsored, endorsed or run by the bands or their labels.

9. Availability and changes to the site

The site is a hobby project provided free of charge. It may be unavailable, changed or shut down, in whole or in part, at any time, for maintenance or other reasons. We try to give notice of major changes where we can. We do not guarantee that the site will be free of errors or interruptions.

10. Liability

The site and its content are provided “as is”, without promises of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for content posted by members. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, or the rights you have as a consumer under the law of your country.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using the site and delete your account whenever you want. We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 13. A membership that is not renewed pauses as described in section 2. Sections that by their nature should continue (for example 4, 5, 6 and 10) continue after your account ends.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes are for the courts of Portugal, without affecting the mandatory consumer rights you may have in the country where you live.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. For significant changes we will tell members on the site and, where the law requires it, ask for your agreement again.

14. Contact

Questions about these terms: contact@lusitaniancoven.com or the Contact form.
